On June 27th 2010 in Bloemfontein, South Africa, we witnessed the most compelling argument ever that the use of video technology should be embraced by FIFA and every national FA. 40,000 fans in the stadium saw it: millions around the world saw it: even Sepp Blatter was there to see it in person. Not one single person watching could deny that a quick referal to the video replay would ensure that no-one ever, EVER, plays football as badly as England did on that day!  

In times of need one can draw inspiration from the simplest things.....

Psychologists would recommend we counter stressful moments by taking deep breaths and thinking back to times in our lives when we were comfortable, secure, and happy. They will mention drawing on personal experiences and memories - and when we find that 'place' - then we are ready to perform once again.

So here we are again. Another World Cup - and yet another talking point for England fans back home and around the world.

But crikey - this one must be a record....? Quicker than you could tie the four corners of a handkerchief and place it neatly on your head we're served something of a howler on a platter. But is it just bad luck - or something more worrying...?
